Stunning African music, dance, song and poetry |
|
Thursday, 10 July 2008 |
Get ready for a highly charged performance of African music, dance and song with Albert Nyathi and Imbongi at the Guildhall Theatre on Friday, July 11.
Albert is Zimbabwe's only performing dub poet and the voice of the
people.
Imbongi are a hi-life and township jive band who mould their own
versions of blues, jazz, contemporary pop and traditional Zimbabwean
music to the rhythm of Nyathi's words.
The singers, musicians and dancers play keyboards, guitars and drums
and are joined on this tour by Maqhinga Radebe, of Ladysmith Black
Mambazo, South Africa's 'King of Masakanda Guitar'.
It is an explosive, dynamic and visually stunning show.
